Jeffco Public Schools put in place its first threat-assessment team in the 2007-08 school year, when 43 cases were evaluated. In a decade, that number reached 767 school-level threats, about 10 percent of which were serious enough to require a district-level review. Extreme cases can be escalated to a committee that includes police, lawyers, mental health professionals and child welfare workers who decide whether a safety plan is required, or if a student should be removed from school.
* Note: Available data for the 2018-19 school year ends on 02/19/2019. Officials say more than 800 assessments have been performed to date. This chart will be updated when full data is available.
